Située à la limite des départements du Lot et de l’Aveyron,
la propriété des Fontaines est une grande maison de campagne
construite en 1777.
En bordure d’un petit hameau tranquille, cettte ancienne batisse se trouve
seulement à 10 mn à pied du village de Martiel. Villefranche
de Rouergue, Bastide Royale, sont à 10 mn en voiture.
Les Fontaines sont un lieu idéal pour se détendre et se reposer.
Situated between the Lot Valley and the Aveyron Gorges, Les Fontaines is
a beautiful 18th Century country house which nestles amongst two acres of
woodland and open countryside. We are ideally situated in a tranquil location
on the edge of a small hamlet, yet only 10 minutes drive from the historic
bastide town of Villefranche de Rouergue where the river Aveyron meanders
its way down the Aveyron Valley.
In an area of outstanding beauty with medieval villages and castles perched
on hilltops in every direction (Najac, Cordes, St. Cirq Lapopie, Belcastel,
Conques to name just a few),
Les Fontaines is the ideal base from which to explore our lovely region.
Rocamadour, Sarlat, Albi and Toulouse are just a few of the wonderful places
to spend a day. For those wanting to explore further afield, the Mediterranean
coast and the Pyrenees are both approximately 2.5 hours drive away. For the
very adventurous there is even a direct overnight train from Villefranche
to Paris!
Notre gîte tout confort pour 4 personnes se trouve dans la cour de
la maison. Deux chambres, une avec un lit double et l’autre avec deux
lits pour une personne. Salle d’eau avec une grande douche. Une cuisine
équipée. Une séjour avec poële, TV pour les DVDs,
Hi-Fi, et deux canapés confortables.
Nos clients peuvent utiliser la piscine de 12 x 6 m (avec une belle vue sur
la campagne et les bois alentours) et le barbecue.
SITE TOURISTIQUE :
La région Midi-Pyrénées est riche des plus beaux villages
de France, avec des paysages a vous couper le souffle.
Les Fontaines sont a deux pas des belles vallées du Lot, du Cele et
de L’Aveyron.
POUR NOUS TROUVER :
De Paris, prenez l’A10 à Orleans et puis l’A71 vers Vierzon.
Suivre l’A20 à Limoges et Toulouse. Sortir de l’A20 à
Cahors et prendre le D911 à Villefranche de Rouergue. Martiel est situe
10 kms à l’ouest de Villefranche.
Pour trouver la maison, prenez simplement la route à Villeneuve et
suivez les panneaux pour “Les Fontaines”.
LES RENSEIGNEMENTS ADITIONNELS :
Les langues parlées sont l’anglais et le francais de base.
Pour le confort de tous nos clients, défense de fumer dans la maison
et dans les jardins.
Il y a un parking pour plusieurs voitures.
Malheureusement nous ne pouvons pas accepter les animaux ou les cartes de
credit.
CLIMATE:
We are blessed with bright blue skies for most of the year, and experience
long, hot summers. Spring and autumn are both usually mild, thus ensuring
a very pleasurable stay whichever time of year you decide to come and visit
us.
DINING OUT:
There are many fine restaurants nearby where you will discover superb local
cuisine from as little as 15 Euros for a 3 course evening menu and under 10
Euros for a lunchtime menu, which usually includes wine. For that special
occasion you could treat yourself to a visit to Michel Bras’ restaurant
at Laguiole which was recently voted amongst the top 10 best in the world.
Accommodation in the Cottage:
Situated in the courtyard of the main house, the pretty wisteria clad cottage
has a cosy lounge with two comfortable sofas, a wood burning stove, TV for
use with DVDs and a hi-fi system. The luxury dining kitchen is fully equipped
with a gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine.
The ground floor has a beamed ceiling throughout.
There are two double bedrooms – one with a double bed and the other two
singles. The luxury bathroom has an extra large shower cubicle. Electric heating
throughout the cottage allows for all year round breaks.
Guests have use of the 12m x 6m swimming pool which is bordered by mature
oak and ash trees which offer welcome dappled shade during the hotter summer
months. A BBQ and garden furniture are available for guests who enjoy eating
al fresco style.
The cottage has been recently refurbished throughout. High quality soft furnishings
have been used throughout giving it a real homely feel.
BED AND BREAKFAST ACCOMMODATION:
We offer luxurious B&B accommodation in the separate guest wing of the
main house. There are three double bedroooms, two deluxe and one standard,
all with double beds and quality soft furnishings. Coffee and tea making facilities
and hairdryers are provided for guests’ use.
Your delicious buffet style breakfast can be taken in either the medieval
style dining room or on the terrace overlooking the garden and pool.
HOW TO FIND US:
- By Air: There are regular flights to Toulouse (approx. 2 hours drive) from
various airports throughout the UK and Rodez (approx. 45 mins. drive) from
Stansted airport.
- By Road: Approximately 8 hours drive from Calais. From Paris take the A10
to Orleans and then follow the A71 towards Vierzon. Pick up the A20 direction
Limoges and Toulouse. Exit the A20 at Cahors and take the D911 to Villefranche
de Rouergue. Martiel is 10 kms. to the west of Villefranche.
When entering the village of Martiel, simply take the road to Villeneuve and
follow the signs for “Les Fontaines” where a warm welcome awaits
you.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Please note that English and basic French are spoken by the owners, but we
look forward to welcoming guests from all over the world.
For the comfort of all our guests, smoking is strictly prohibited throughout
the cottage, main house and grounds. br>There are parking space for several
cars within the grounds.
We regret that we are unable to cater for pets, nor can we are accept payment
by credit cards.
